Tick, tock...

I'm amazed that more than a month has passed since I was last here.......I don't know where the time has gone.  It has been busy......my sister moved house and so I had the pleasure of my niece for a couple of days, I've been busy making baby quilts and bags (pics to follow), I went to the quilt show at Sandown, I've been to Royal Ascot and I've been enjoying the sunshine.  Isn't the weather gorgeous at the moment???  Me and Ross have been spending some time soaking up the rays, trying to get a base tan before our holiday.  Although Ross has spent so much time on the golf course he looks like he's just had 3 weeks away somewhere sunny.

Charley has almost finished college - the last week this week!!!!!  Eeeek, there's no getting away from the fact that she'll be moving to Brighton in September.........all dependant on grades of course.  Brighton is a fab place to live and I know she'll love every minute of it and will positively blossom down there, and it's not too far away, so I'm sure I will pop down and meet Chaz for shopping, coffee and lunch trips.

13 days and counting until our much waited for holiday.  It's Las Vegas again.......which is like a home from home now.  I love the heat, the hotels, the luxury, the service, the shows and the shopping......plus it's great to spend 2 weeks with Ross and Chaz, totally uninterrupted.

Well, back to the sewing machine.  I still have a few projects to finish before my holiday and also need to put a few little hand sewing projects together to take away with me.........and I have some audio books to download to my ipod to listen to while lazing by the pool.  Be back soon.

18 years ago today......

..........a little bundle of absolute joy was born. My daughter Charley.

To be honest, the only trouble Charley has ever given me is on the day of her birth. She was a tough, rough delivery (the main reason I've never done it again) but has been a joy to behold ever since. She never cried, slept all through the night and was truly a gift from God.

I can't believe my gorgeous, talented, funny, sensitive, special girl officially becomes an adult today. Eighteen!!!!!!!! Where did the years go???

Love you loads Chaz xxxxxx

Apples and....

.....fairs!!!!!

Apples.........I had a request from Helen to make her one of the flea market bags, she wanted a large bag with a long strap so it would hang across her body.  The fabric she picked was some red apple fabric I had in my stash, and as Helen wasn't fussed about it being reversible, I lined it with some plain red fleece...

Fairs.........On Thursday I went to the quilt fair at Malvern.  It was the first time I have been to Malvern and it was lovely.  Not too far to get to and just the right size to wander round and make a few purchases.  I met the gorgeous girls from Buttonberry........I've chatted to them lots through their site and email, but finally got to put faces to names so that was really lovely.  I did make some fabric purchases, but tried to be a bit restrained because we have Sandown next month.  Although I bought a fair bit of bag fabric, some just so delicious I couldn't not have it, I did also buy some quilting fabric......and have seen some that I want to use in my newly decorated bedroom, but will plan the quilt and then buy that fabric at Sandown when I have a plan for it's use........

Here's the bag fabrics....hearts and spots

And heres some more spots and leaves....

These are the bundles of fat quarters I bought, two different colourways........but already ideas what to do with them.....

Short and sweet post from me today, but I have plans for designing my own bag/s and lots of new fabric to stroke........LOL..........so lots to do.

Bag Lady...

I've had a little run on bag making this week.  After making the flea market bag for my friend Julie, I decided to make one for Chaz.  I found some heavy weight cotton in my stash (so no need to use interfacing) and made this bag for Chaz

Chaz has made me promise not to make another bag with these fabrics - she wants her one to be one of a kind - LOL..........but I did make another one for me.  Yes, finally I have made something that I am going to keep.........I made this bag bigger and put longer handles on it

I am now going to head out and rummage through my fabric stash and see what other colour combinations I can come up with and make a few more bags..........after all, you can never have too many bags.............can you???????

Bags galore...

It's a friends birthday today and I have made her a bag and a little notebook cover with the leftover fabric.  I got the bag kit from the Fat Quarter Shop - it's called Darla's Flea Market bag.  This was by far the easiest bag I have made and I just love the shape and size, plus the fabrics were lush, so spring-like.........

and this is the reversable side

and with the leftover fabric I made a little notebook cover to match

I hope she likes it...........and with no other plans today, I think I might make myself one!!!!
